We watched the Republican Presidential Candidates Debate on MSNBC this evening. And while I am a card carrying Non-Partisan (and happy to be so), tonight solidified my feelings that the GOP is headed in a horrible direction if it continues on its current path. There was a lot of word vomit, several trainwrecks, false accusations, and just plain uneducated statements parading on that stage. While I currently agree much more with Democrat candidates and politics at this current time, there have been plenty of wonderful Republican politicians in U.S. history (and plenty awful Democrat ones for that matter). Yet, what is happening to the present GOP politics is just shameful. I truly do believe that the majority of this is due to the further and further from center their ideas and platforms get. The more Tea Party politics become a "Republican" ideal, the worse off the GOP appears. The Tea Party is getting a free ride on the Republican ticket right now, which I truly feel is wrong and inappropriate. If you want to be a "party" then do so. Stand up and own it. Be what you really are. Break through the current two party system instead of riding on the Republican name when you are so far right from even the best Republican's conservative politics.
I try not to post a lot on politics as I typically keep that between myself, the husband, and close friends. This evening was just such a joke for me. It was helpful to see which candidates are going to have a chance as the campaign goes on longer, but that really is about it for me. I just got to know more likely which one of two names that I will not be digitally punching come next November. But no surprise there either.
